Latency test: which VPS region is fastest for you?
Click start and your browser will actually measure how long it takes to reach servers in 20 cities around the world. The lower the number, the faster your website or API will respond for people where you are.
How to read the result
- Up to 60 ms (excellent): ideal for websites, stores, APIs and games.
- 60 to 120 ms (good): unnoticeable on most websites.
- 120 to 200 ms (fair): works well for automations, bots and test environments.
- Over 200 ms (high): avoid it for websites with visitors in that region.
The number is the round-trip time of a small request, the same delay a visitor would feel on every click. It varies with your connection and the time of day, so treat it as a reference and run the test again to confirm.
Are your users somewhere else? The test measures from where you are. If your audience is in another country, ask someone there to run it, or pick the region closest to them.
How the test works
Your browser sends a few small requests to Vultr's public test servers in each city and keeps the lowest time. The first connection, which includes DNS and encryption, is discarded. None of your data is sent to TopVPS; the test servers only see your IP address, as with any website visit.
Next step: once you've picked a region, compare prices with the VPS finder or work out the real cost with the VPS cost calculator.
