Hostinger vs Contabo: which VPS is the better deal?

Price and resources
On paper, Contabo wins easily: for a little less money you get twice the RAM and four times the vCPUs. For memory-hungry workloads, such as several Docker containers, large databases or local AI models, that makes a big difference.
Hostinger makes up for it with a smoother experience and more included in the price: weekly backups, a firewall in the panel and all data center locations at the same price.
Performance and latency
Hostinger lets you pick from 10 data centers in the Americas, Europe and Asia at no extra cost, so it is easy to place your site close to your visitors. Contabo also has many regions, but its lowest price is for Europe; other locations add a monthly surcharge.
Contabo is also known for sharing resources more heavily between customers, so CPU performance can vary. Hostinger tends to be more consistent, though with fewer cores.
Ease of use
For beginners, Hostinger is clearly easier: a panel available in many languages, one-click app installs, an AI assistant in the panel and 24/7 chat support. Contabo gives you a "bare" server and expects you to know how to run Linux.
When to choose each one
Choose Hostinger if…
- your site or app serves visitors who need fast response times;
- you want 24/7 chat support and an easy panel;
- you want to install n8n, WordPress or Docker from a ready-made template;
- you need the server up and running in minutes.
Choose Contabo if…
- you need a lot of RAM on a small budget;
- you will run automations, workers or test environments where latency doesn't matter;
- you are comfortable with Linux and don't rely on support.
Verdict
There is no absolute winner. For websites and projects that serve real visitors, Hostinger is the better choice thanks to its locations, support and ease of use. For heavy projects on a tight budget, Contabo gives you more hardware per dollar than any competitor.
